  • 05th May 2009 - RESERVES MISS OUT BY SMALLEST OF MARGINS

    Clive Rhodes

The 2nd XI's promotion hopes were ended last night when Wilberfoss drew 1-1 with Hamilton Panthers to give the East Riding side 2nd place on goal average.

With Clive Rhodes' side and Wilberfoss both having 40 points from 20 games and sharing a goal difference of +31 the 2nd XI miss out on the smallest of margins.

  • 29th April 2009 - 10 YEAR HIGH FOR THORNE

    Nick Thorne

Town striker Nick Thorne became the first senior player to hit 20 1st XI goals for over ten years with his brace in the 3-2 win at Norwich Union. The last Town player to complete this feat was Town Legend Tony Snowdon who went on to hit 140 goals in 222 appearances.
Thorne joined the club in the summer from Neighbours Crayke and has since established himself as a key player in the Town side picking up four man of the match awards from 25 league appearances to date.

  • 27th April 2009 - 6th PLACE IS THE TARGET

    Eric Garnham

1st team manager Eric Garnham will be hoping for a reaction to Saturdays poor showing against Stamford Bridge, as they chase 6th place in Division 1. The side currently have 26 points on the board with four games remaining, just two points short of their current record since returning to Division 1. The top 5 teams in the league have a comfortable lead but 6th place is still there for the Town to take. Two wins from the games against Norwich Union, Tadcaster Albion, Thorpe Utd and Ouseburn would see the Town gain 32 points, overtaking Bishopthorpe and Nestle Rowntree (dependent on goal difference) who have both completed the season. Only Ouseburn who visit Bull Hill on the last day of the season can also overtake Nestle Rowntree.

  • 27th April 2009 - FINAL DAY FOR RESERVES

The Seniors Reserve team will have to wait until the 2nd May to find out if they have been promoted to Reserve Divison A. The 2nd XI finished the season on 40 points and require Champions Hamilton Panthers to beat third place Wilberfoss in order to secure promotion.
